Klein Marine Systems has chosen Exail’s Octans Nano OEM Attitude and Heading Reference System (AHRS) as the navigation solution of choice for its 5900 Side Scan Sonar (SSS).
This integration significantly enhances the sonar system’s performance in precision seabed imaging across defense, security, and commercial maritime operations.
Engineered for compact subsea platforms, the Exail Octans Nano OEM AHRS delivers precise heading data with 0.5° secant latitude accuracy and pitch/roll measurements accurate to 0.1°. These specifications ensure a stable reference frame for high-resolution sonar imaging, directly contributing to reduced post-processing requirements and improved positioning fidelity. Its lightweight form factor and low power demands make it particularly well-suited for long-duration underwater deployments.
Ted Curley, General Manager at Klein Marine Systems, said, “By integrating the Exail Octans Nano OEM into our 5900 SSS, we are significantly enhancing both positioning accuracy and image stability. “This advanced motion compensation technology reduces data errors, delivering clearer and more reliable imagery for critical missions.”
Shayan Haque, Regional Sales Manager at Exail, added, “Klein Marine Systems’ selection of the Exail Octans Nano OEM reflects the trust placed in our cutting-edge AHRS technology. We are proud to support Klein’s mission to deliver innovative solutions that empower users to perform more precise and efficient underwater surveys.”
Klein’s 5900 SSS is a high-performance system widely deployed for detailed seabed mapping, geophysical survey work, wreck location, and UXO detection. The integration of Exail’s AHRS bolsters the sonar’s ability to operate in dynamic marine environments by minimizing drift and ensuring data consistency in complex conditions.
This collaboration between Klein Marine Systems and Exail underscores a shared commitment to advancing the capabilities of underwater mapping technologies. By combining robust sonar with reliable, high-accuracy inertial navigation, the partnership is driving new benchmarks for operational precision and efficiency in subsea missions globally.
